Help Batch Resize and export to GIF

Hi All,

I have been struggling to find a way to change the width of multiple AI files and save them as GIFs. I tried using Actions but the size is being saved as a percentage. I need the width to be 2048 pixels wide with a proportionate height. I started looking to do this with a script as opposed to an action but am struggling. Does anyone know if this is possible via a script? I would have thought that one existed already!
