HELP! I can't export Illustrator to PDF in the correct size.

Question

Help! I made a set of playing cards in Illustrator. My artboard size is 58x88 mm. To send it to the printing company I had to make one big file, which means I have 432 artboards in one document. There guidelines state I need to safe it to PDF/X-4:2008. Every time I export the size of my artboard changes. If I check te size in Acrobat it states 291 x 321 mm; but according to the printing company my PDF is 5,8 x 8,8 mm.

I tried different PDF settings, but it only exports to the right size if I use 'Illustrator Default'. I'm on a deadline, can someone tell me how to fix this. Thanks a looot!

You probably used a Large Canvas document which can exceed the normal dimensions limit of 227 inches (576,58 cm).

Illustrator uses a scaling trick to accomplish this. You can test if it is a large canvas document by zooming to the maximum zoomlevel, if it is 6400%, you are using a large canvas document, if it is 64000% it is a regular size document.

Try to copy the cards into regular size document(s).
