HELP: Illustrator crashing

I was attempting to recreate what was done in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oo1dvJCL06I

I get to the point where I create a symbol set. However, when I try to copy it, Illustrator crashes. It does this when I manually go to copy in the drop-down menu or when I hit command c.

I am not sure what the issue is. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

For context, I am using a MacBook pro, with the operating system Sonoma 14.1 and Illustrator version 28.

Again, advice or an explanation of what is causing this issue would be so helpful. Thanks!

There is no explanation or goal in this video. There are long ads you need to watch before being allowed into the video.

Please describe the exact steps you have done.

Please show screenshots of your artboard.

And you could spray the symbol set already on the artboard?

Did you already reboot the computer?

Which system and version are you running?

I agree that the video is frustrating. I wish it had more clear steps.

Regarding what I have done, I created a series of shapes. Then, I added each shape as a new symbol.

Using the symbol spray tool, I created a symbol set with a series of these symbols.

I can manipulate the symbol set in size and can add effects to it.

But, like I mentioned, if I try to copy it, Illustrator crashes.

I have already rebooted my computer and I am using a MacBook pro, with the operating system Sonoma 14.1 and Illustrator version 28.

These are just dots, right? nothing special about them such as effects, gradients, transparency?

Do you experience issues when copying and pasting in Illustrator generally? There are third party apps that interfere with the clipboard. You could try and turn off everything else and reboot the computer.
