Help isolating a letter

Is there anyway to isolate the gold V in my logo? I want to use just that letter in another item. I have in a vector file and i can ungroup but can't upload not copy just the gold V. Thank you so much for the help.

Click on it in the Layers panel to select it.

        Use the direct selection tool.

        Click inside one of the items. Hold down Shift and click inside the other one.

        Copy

        Switch to other file

        Paste
