Help me with making up a shape please

I need to join the seperate paths to get a solid shape, but for some reason it doesn`t work properly. I don`t understand what`s going on right there, some weird lines appear. Why so?

You can use rectangle shapes with outline fill, try it like above mentioned after that use Shift+M to join the part.

    You would need to outline the strokes and then use the Pathfinder Unite from the Pathfinder panel to bring them together.
