Ok I have a two pices of clip art both PNG files. One is a check pattern one is a horse on a transparent background. How do I put one on top of the other so I have a horse on a checky back ground.

Currently when I move the image with its transparent background over anything the entire image below is blocked.

I do not know what 'question' to ask my books or help guides.

And yes I am very new to all this

And if you have Photoshop, it is the better app to combine pixel files like PNG.

What you are describing makes it sound like your horse image doesn't actually have a transparent background, but has white or some neutral color instead.

The 'system' swore that it was. It had grey and white squares on it and everything. In the end I abandonned it and created another which worked. Thank you!
