Help with re-drawing a particular shape!

I need to redraw a number of celtic knot inspired designs such as the one I have atatched below. None of the designs align perfectly, you will notice that if you follow a particular angle in the design that it doesn't carry through correctly as in it's thicker on one side than it is on the other etc etc.

What would be the best and easiest way of doing this? I tried with the new curvature pen but probably not doing it right.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

The Celtic knot example you posted wasn't drawn very well, but some of the odd features in it can be corrected fairly easily. I'd probably draw out the interior shapes and then use the Offset Path effect to create the green outlines.

The new Intertwine effect (under the Object menu) can help create live overlap effects, which can make drawing graphics like Celtic knots easier.
