Holding shift to move an object in line no longer working

Hi, since the latest release, the function to hold shift and move (or duplicate when holding alt too) to keep the object aligned with the original is no longer working. It only allows the object to remain in the same position (or be moved very very slightly). I'm using Windows.

Anyone else having this issue?   Or ideas on a setting that might have changed?  Or is this a bug? Or a deliberate change from Adobe?

Smart guides and the Shift key interfere with each other.

YOu can turn off Smart guides, or use them instead of shift or turn off the option Tranform tools in Preferences > Smart Guides

Keep in mind this is just a WORK AROUND. There is a bug that Adobe is aware of. The latest version actually may have fixed it, which is why I ask what version of illustrator is being used. Version 24.2.1 is the latest.

Hi. Try pressing the Shift key after start moving the object, not before.
