I have some Photoshop photos that I need to convert into illustrator.  Is this possible?

    Hi Liza,

You can simply place a PSD file in Illustrator or an image saved saved from Photoshop. Unless you trace the image, it will remain raster and behave the same way. I believe you need to check with your printer how they want your files to be, for a better workflow.

That would help you create the file as needed.

So I would save the photoshop image to my computer as a .jpg, then select it for editing in Illustrator and just not edit it? And it will look the same? I am not going to be the one printing the images. They arte going to be printed for manufacture by a company with hi-tech UV printers.

    Hi Liza,

You should do the editing part in Photoshop itself and then save the image as a JPEG, as Illustrator is not an ideal app for image editing. You can then place those image in Illustrator (File> Place) and go ahead with your workflow.

I think you need to convert the image to vector (Illustrator's native format) for the UV printing. In that case, you'll need to use Image Trace inside Illustrator. So, place the image into Illustrator using the File > Place command, and then follow the directions here to get the vector results you need: How to edit artwork in Illustrator using Image Trace

I I have someone creating artwork for me in Photoshop. But I need to submit it to a manufacturer for UV printing in Illustrator. Can I take the Photoshop art and drop it into Illustrator and save it that way?

well, yes. but then you'd just have a photoshop file wrapped in an illustrator file container. what sort of artwork does UV printing need?
