Question

How do I approach using SVGs in a print project?

Hi,
I'm working on a business card that will be printed. I have some SVGs from Figma that I need to bring into this project. Is it a problem if I place them directly in the file, or are SVGs not ideal for print? Also, could this cause issues with the color mode?

You COULD, but frankly, I would convert them, e.g. open them in Illustrator and save as proper .AI or PDF.

SVGs are in RGB color mode, so that might or might not become an issue depending on how you are printing.

As for everything else: what exactly is in the SVGs?

And where do you place them?

Its a logo and a small graphic, they will be both places on the front.

Will you use them in Illustrator? InDesign? Some other product?  When you place it in Illustrator, it will be converted to the document mode. And then you should edit the colors.

If you will use the logo repeatedly in projects, do yourself a favour and create versions of the logo that are appropriate for the use cases.
