How do I combine this image's two lines into one

I am not sure what I am asking for here, but maybe it is a merge? That is why I can’t look it up. I had AI created an image that I need to be a vector file to move into CAD software. When I use AI 2026 and do a n image trace and expand I get the object with 2 lines that are adjacent to each there. I laser cutter/engraver does’t like this. Can you please tell me how to merge these lines if that is possible, or delete one set of lines? For some reason, I can’t upload the .ai file here, so here is the original that you may be able to recreate my steps.

You cannot do that with an automatic process. Instead it would need to be drawn manually.

Sorry about all the replies, I am trying to upload 4 images and I guess it defaults to 2 per post. The one with the screen shot and the dog, pls the soccer bal and football are supposed to be one post.

@nelsonmason Can you show the Outline View (Ctrl Y or Cmd Y). I suppose that during tracing you created filled shapes instead of stroked paths.

Maybe you can trace the image with the Line Art preset and Ignore Color in the Advanced options, although it will not work for the mouth.

I'm not sure about the shapes. when you trace this say the eyes turn into a warped ellipse. there is also an outer outline and an inner outline that are black. I was hoping to be able to combine those both together as one line or I guess one vector?

What is it that you want to do with it? When plotting the artwork, the shapes should work just fine, but you only need the shapes that are filled in black.

So there are black shapes and white shapes in this. Is it that what you are referring to?

When you trace these images, you get double lines. I am trying to bring the images into a program called LightBurn for a laser cut. Double lines just don’t look good. I am a real novice here. I tried to work with the soccer ball and delete a few polygons and use the edit node tool to connect the shapes. It isn’t working out for me. I am trying together the double lines to become one line so the laser doesn’t have burn the same area twice.
