I am interested in connecting the end point of the horizontal to the vertical path, how do I do this? It seems like a simple thing, but I've spent a long time trying to figure this one out, and I am stumped. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

It's not possible. From a given point a path may emerge in either one or two directions, but not three, so these are pretty much your options:
