How do I Disable zooming when opt shift drag an object?

When I want to copy constraint an object and use option shift drag, illustrator zooms out uncontrollably and my copied object is no longer where I want to place it, losing the constraint. Is there a fix to stop the zoom?

Which version of Illustrator and which system is it?

Is there perhaps something set up in the system that interferes with your keystrokes?

Also: a preferences reset might be needed. I suppose you already rebooted the system.

Latest Illustrator 2023 on macOS Ventura 13.4.1

It's always been a problem since moving over to Creative Cloud, it's just getting really frustrating and thought there might be an easy fix I'm missing?

I'm on Catalina (and here been using Macs for the last 30 years and I have never seen that kind of behaviour.
