Question

How do I make a 3D Archery Target that doesn't look terrible?

I have been trying to make a decent looking black and white 3D archery target, but the 3D effect makes it look terrible.

The base are just a circle that is then offset by 10px a few times. When I use the extrude and bevel effect, all the rings extend in both directions.

How can I make the Extrude and Bevel only show on one side, so that it looks like the target is pointing a bit to the left?

Sven,

As I (mis)understand it, you may use the Perspective Grid.

Or for a more stylized (non perspective) appearance, you may outline the stroke(s) and reduce the W value or scale a bit down horizontally.

One way-

Make a Symbol of your target, by dragging it into the symbol panel   Window > Symbols

Draw a circle with  just a white fill

Window > 3D> Extrude and Bevel

Setting as you like

Map Art

select your symbol

choose the correct surface

maybe Scale to Fit

ok
