How do I quick Select?

I was wondering where the quick select tool is? Like if i have something with a solid background how to get rid of it. I know that the quick select tool/wand can do it, but I can't find it. Also the magic wand I thought could also just select one color in an image but it doesn't seem to do anything.

    Closest you could get to this in AI would be to use an Image Trace on the photo.

    Then go back and delete all the converted background image parts from the vectors in the trace result.

    Then merge everything that is left, and use that to make a clipping mask on the original photo.

    But, in the amount of time that would take to get right, it would be faster to zoom in real close, trace the image with the pen tool, and just make a mask from scratch.

    This is Photoshop! Illustrator is a vector based application. You select the objects and cannot get rid of a background because there is no solid background.

    Checkout the selection tools in Photoshop.

    oh. that sucks a bit. in school i learned photoshop, but for work i had to buy illustrator. and i dont really have the funds for both, so i guess ill just suffer. lol

    You might want to search for that tool in Photoshop instead of Illustrator.

    Then you can't use that tool.

    Please show us what you want to do. If it includes heavy editing on a raster image (such as a PNG, JPG, TIF or a PSD), then you will notice that Illustrator is not at all suitable for that.
