How do I remove the white background in shadow (mesh)

I purchased some shadows from Adobe Stock but I am having a problem with exporting them. When exporting, I want a fully transparent shadow, but the white within the actual mesh (shadow) stays. Is there a way to either export without the white background? Or how do I remove it within the file? These shadows are labeled as "mesh" which I am not familiar with. My Illustrator skills are not the greatest, I'll admit. I primarily use PS and DW.

 

Here is a shadow as it appears when I first open up the file.

 

NOTE: The checkered background is actually an image. So I find that layer and turn it off.

Next, I see this:

Here is a screenshot of the shadow when I click on it. In the Layers panel, it is labeled <mesh>:

 

After I export as a transparent .png, this is what I get.

 

How do I get rid of the white?

 

Additionally, I have a separate question... is there a way I can contact an Adobe Stock contributor? I thought I'd contact he person that created the file directly, but I am unable to find a way to contact them.

 

I have also attached the file in addition to the screenshots in this question.

    To get rid of that you can use the simple method and just set the whole thing to Multiply in the transparency panel.

    Or select the single mesh points, set them to black and then reduce their opcaity.

    Thank you. I tried the Multiply and it didn't work. And I don't know enough about Illustrator to do the "select single mesh points" option.

     

    When I leave the checkered background visible, then I don't get the white within the shadow when I export all images - but I do see the checkered background.

     

    I don't understand why this checkered background layer is added. I'm assuming it is to show people that these are transparent images, but this still doesn't make sense to me. I purchased something like 4 different files of shadows and I can't use any of them.

     

    Is there a way I can contact the contributor directly and ask him (or her)?

    The checkered background needs to be there, because blend modes only work when there is a background behind it.

     

    How do you intend to use it?

     

    To make your own shadows that are transparent and do not use White:

    Start with a stroke

    Apply a gradient

    Take the width tool and double click on the stroke

    Edit the wdith

    Object > Expand appearance
