How do I save a traced drawing?

How do I save a traced drawing without the template also coming along? When I save it in CC, the template is still there. I am a newbe with Ai.

Expand the Image trace, make sure in the Links panel that the template is gone, then save the file.

You won't be able to edit the Image trace settings after expanding.
