How do stop drawing a pen tool path on an iPad and apple pen?

I'm drawing a pen-path on my iPad, with an Apple pencil.  I have been unable to find an easy way to say stop drawing this path and start a new one.  The easiest method I found is creating a new layer and doing a path per layer. That can't be right!

The help documents say ctrl-click, but I don't have a keyboard.  The iPad touch button is used for moving and breaking points, it does not stop my current path.

What you could do is tap on the artboard tool and then back on the pen tool. This stops drawing the path and then also deselects it so that you can start a new one.

Thank you, that works.
The other tools require you to use them before they stop the pen line. With the artboard tool, you can click and return to the pen.

There's one other thing you can do. If you don't already use the Apple pencil's double tap feature for something else. The double tap settings are in the Illustrator App settings (cog wheel icon in the top right) in "Input". In the double tap menu you can set up "Deselect". And then when you double tap with your finger on the penciol, the path gets deselected and you can start a new one. No changing of tools necessary.
