Question

How to automatically sync preferences across multiple computers in Illustrator

I am working in Illustrator 2026 and I work on different computers. The issue is, that I always loose my settings (e.g. defined color fields / color settings / general illustrator workspace settings / ...). Unfortunately I havent found a simple solution how to synchronize these settings automatically.

  1. Hard to belive but is there really no simple solution to automatically synchronize the settings across multiple workstations?
  2. Is it important that I use the very same Illustrator version on every computer?
  3. strange as well: Do I really need to re-install Illustrator in order to change language settings?
  4. How can I export and Save my Illustrator settings as a file on my computer?

Many thanks for your support! Best regards, Silvan

The easiest way to set up identical Illustrator workspaces on two computers is get the workspace set up the way you like it on one machine and then save that workspace as a named workspace file. Make a copy of that file and place it into the appropriate folder location on the other computer. It’s possible to save multiple workspaces and import and use them as needed.

On Windows PCs workspaces are stored under
    C:\Users\Your User Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 30 Settings\en_US\x64\Workspaces.

The file path on a Mac would be somewhat similar, but in sub-folders under the Users\Your User Name\Library\Preferences.

@all users: Is there really no automatic sync option in Illustrator?

How do professional designers work with illustrator if there is no sync option across multiple devices…?

They probably use the things that are there?

Synchronising settings is a feature of the Astute Graphics set of plugins if you happen to have them.

For changing the language you have to have that particular language installed. If you have multiple languages installed, it is necessary to switch your system to the desired language

Thank you for your reply. If I understand your answer correctly, there is no synchronization option in Adobe Illustrator without additional plug-ins...? This would be quite disappointing for a product in this price class

You can check out Edit > My Settings > Export/Import

It’s far from being automatic, but maybe it matches your needs.
