How to avoid image resizing when copying charts from excel to Illustrator

When using Excel 2013 or later, when I copy and paste a chart into Illustrator the chart does not paste in as its original size. It's easy enough to resize the graph, but I shouldn't have to. Is there a reason why the conversion is messing with the dimensions of the chart? Has anyone encountered this?

When I use Excel 2010 this is not an issue.
