How to change starting number on a numbered list?

In Illustrator, is there a way to change what number a numbered list starts with? I'd seen a post elsewhere in the forums to look under the settings for bullets/numbers, but when I followed it to the same place in Illustrator, there didn't seem to be an option to change the list start number. I'm working on a file for a client who wants to stay in Illustrator, so I'm hoping to not shift out to a different program if possible.

It's amazing how the simplest missing feature can make us regret using this app. I've been searching for an answer to this for HOURS, I simply cannot BELIEVE that it's not possible. And worse: if you break a text box in two, the list WILL START OVER IN THE SECOND BLOCK it's so annoying!!!

SAME! This is an insane feature to be missing! I'm dealing with the break in a text box right now and my list starting over at 1 at the break!
