How to create 3D contour lines in illustrator

Hi all,

I have this reference on hand that I have to make another one similar to this in AI, I was told that this was made by AI but I am not sure what tools to use and how to create those lines. Would be much appreciated for any tips.

THere is no automatic method to get this.

You can create some intermediate lines with the blend function, but more or less you will have to draw it.

Search for "guilloche"
