How to create a 3D sphere with holes in it?

Dear Illustrator Community,

I am searching for a way to create a 3D sphere with holes in it. It needs to be true 3D and not a mapped image of holes on a 3D sphere.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

You might be able to do that in Adobe Dimension.

Adobe Dimension can also only apply materials.
