How to draw a polygon

Hi everybody,

I'm new in this forum, although I 've been using Illustrator for my work for many years. Recently I've noticed that I'm missing one option – switching off the Bezier anchors by the pen tool. I would like to draw a continuously (joined) straight line, without accidentally changing it into a bezier curve. While drawing fast with a Wacom pen or with a mouse, it's easy to move the cursor before jumping to the next place and thereby, by accident pull the Bezier handle and proceeding a curve. I use Affinity Designer on iPad and there exists an option for the pen tool – a polygon. I'm looking for something similar that in Illustrator.

Maybe this would work for you --

You can select one or more anchor points with the Direct Selection tool and click the Convert Selected Anchor Point to Corner icon in the Options bar.

or in the Properties panel.

Interesting, I find that even with my Wacom a click never turns into a click and drag, so my corner points don't turn into Bezier curves unless that is my intention. You may want to adjust the settings on the Wacom as they may be too sensitive. But in the meantime, there is no option like that of Affinity Design and what @BarbaraAsh suggested is probably your best option.

You may add a feature request here,

If you can live with a (temporary) reshape solution, you may ClickDrag over the entire path (or just the relevant Anchor Point(s) if you are absolutely sure) with the Direct Selection Tool, then apply the free John Wundes script sharpenCorners to any and all the Anchor Points in one go; Anchor Points with very short Handles may be easily overlooked/hard to spot unless looking closer.
