How to edit the text in vector image?

I have a bunch of vector images in ai and svg format....some have text. i wanted to know how to edit those texts?

Could you please post a screenshot with the pertinent Panels visible and with View > Outline checked?

Your screenshot doesn't really show what we'd need to see. Can you try again after choosing View > Outline and/or expanding Layer 1 so that the sub-layers are showing? It would also help if the "text" you want to edit was selected.

Is there an issue with just clicking inside them with the text tool?

In that case the text (or the layer) might be locked.

Or the text has been outlined. Check outline view, is the text black in outline view? Then it would be editable.
