Question

How to get pen pressure on Paintbrush?

I've set the size to Pressure and set Variation but the stroke does not vary enough. Also, the size is too big even when it's set to 1 to 3 pt and I can't make it any smaller.

How do I get the pen pressure to work for the Paintbrush?

I've attached a video of me trying to get the pen pressure to work. Please let me know what I'm doing wrong.

Hello @11Pekoe,

We understand the frustration of being unable to use the Wacom Tablet with Illustrator. Hopefully, the issue has been resolved. If not, please consider installing the latest version of the Wacom drivers (https://www.wacom.com/en-us/support/product-support/drivers#:~:text=Just%20looking%20for%20drivers%3F%20Here%20is%20our%20latest%3A) to see if it resolves the problem.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Still need help on this, I've been making do by editing the stroke but it'd be nice to be able to use my tablet to draw like I would in Clip Studio Paint.

Please check with Wacom on how exactly to install your tablet.

The trouble is you need to find the correct version of the Wacom driver. Try this: https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/illustrator-keeps-crashing-when-using-wacom-tablet/td-p/13714929

Yeah, Wacom still hasn't released an update for its Windows driver. The two releases from January are to be avoided. Gotta revert back to the Nov 2022 driver.

@Monika Gause the size is 3 points on all instances, but it seems that the OP doesn't have a pressure activated device (as in tablet)
@11Pekoe if you have a tablet, have you used the pressure option in another software? as in Photoshop or Fresco for example)
If not, check if "windows ink" is toggled on in your tablet settings

PS: The videos get blurry when you put them full screen, I never do, it's horrible 🙂 Normal size work more or less!

I do have a pressure activated device, I have a Wacom Intuos Pro and it works in other programs. I can't get it to work in Illustrator though.

And yes Windows Ink is toggled.

I've tried, but I just can't put up with Windows Ink at all. I have to live with a Wacom tablet that has no pressure sensitive capability. My iPad and Apple Pencil is my only alternative. With Windows Ink enabled anything that involves pressing and dragging the pen tip is totally messed up with that annoying circle icon thing that blocks what I'm trying to do. I can't use animated zoom or change values on a user interface slider (such as transparency level setting) without it being hijacked by that circle icon. And the pop-up text entry dialog box that jumps in the way whenever I click into a text entry field just makes me block my stack. I really wish someone could talk some sense into Microsoft's "engineers" about how bad Windows Ink sucks.

You are using a graphic tablet, right? You'll need to.

The size of the brush must be 3 pt and then you can set a variation of 3 pt. Your video is blurry, I can't read what it's set to.

Yes, I have a Wacom Intuos and it works just fine in other programs like Clip Studio Paint.

Yes the variation is set to 3pt. Nothing happens though.
