Question

How to globalise layers or documents

Hi. I just wanna ask for some workflow question and tips, I've seen other did it, like they change just something on that one layer or element on that document, and those elements or layers that are from other document but linked to the other documents change automatically too, or if they change something on that one layer, where is used again and again and duplicated around the document, changes too.

How can I do that? Where can I learn that, because I've searched everywhere and either can't hit the right query since I don't really know what the right way to call it too or the documentation for this trick or practice really doesn't exist. How can I do this? Both on Photoshop and Illustrator. Do I need to use Adobe CC Libraries for this? Do I need Adobe Cc subscription for this?

If this thread is not in the right place here in Adobe CC, please just kindly move it to others. I just asked it here, bc I'm asking for both Photoshop and Illustrator

As has been already menitioned Smart Objects are the way in Photoshop: you place (linked) other documents into a host document. You can do basically the same in Illustrator: place other Illustrator documents.

You can also use the CC libraries for this. Inside an Illustrator document you can use symbols.

To get content out of databases, you could try variables in Illustrator. Or scripting.

But the placed content inside the host document will only update when you open that document and then either have the links update automatically or do it manually.

I think what you want are linked Smart Objects.
