Question

How to import/export illustrator program settings and where to find them

Hello everybody, how are you doing today? So what I am trying to do is to look and figure out which of my illustrator settings should I transfer over to my new macbook M1 laptop photoshop version? I have an older MacBook that is going to die any day now and I wanted to transfer my data over before I lose it forever. Also, I was going to take my important settings and store them on my external hard drive in a new folder. I never done this before and it seems like a lot of work to do it manually by hand for each program. Basically, what settings would I want to move to my new illustrator computer version? I am not sure which settings are more important to keep than others. Any info would be very help about this topic. I want to keep my workspaces I created so my tools are where I had put them in my toolbar.

You could try Edit > My Settings > Export Settings and import it in your new laptop Illustrator.

I am not sure if everything you want is exported.

You absolutely want to keep custom brushes, patterns, swatches

Maybe width profiles

keyboard shortcuts, workspaces

3d materials

You can use Edit > My settings > Export

Here is a list of settings locations if you want to do it manually. https://www.vektorgarten.de/illustrator-settings.html
