How to Monitor GPU Acceleration Performance

Hi all,

I have purchased a new editing computer with the following specs:

Windows 10 x64 - Professional

32 GB DDR4 RAM

NVidia GTX 1070 Graphics Card

Intel i5 Processor

Adobe Illustrator CC 2017

512 GB SSD

I have turned on GPU Acceleration & I am not able to see a difference when loading a file - any speed increases. It takes the same amount of time to load the .ai  file with and without GPU acceleration turned on. It takes ~40s to load the file on each setting.

Are there ways I can optimize GPU to assist with load times? Is this even a possibility? What metrics does the GPU Performance help with?

Thank you!

Correct answer Monika Gause

When opening a file it gets loaded into memory. GPU does nothing of this.

GPU accelerates the rendering on screen or some operations.

i don't think gpu performance has any effect on load times. it affects the rendering of the file once you have it open. everything else is probably down to your HD and processor.
