How to open normal document in Illustrator? Illustrator document is not showing white area/Artboard.

A few days ago I opened a new document on Illustrator, and the workspace showed this. Normally it is just dark grey, with a white drawing area. Does someone know how to put it back to normal?

Thanks a lot

I think the easiest way is to close this document and open a new one using a preset that is not Film & Video or HDV/HDTV 1080.

Hi there,

Sorry about the trouble. As mentioned above, you are using Films & Video preset. For different workspaces, Illustrator has different presets. The one you are referring to as "dark grey, with a white drawing area." can be any of the following presets:

  • Mobile
  • Web
  • Print
  • Art & Illustration

Also, I would suggest you visit this help article (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/create-documents.html) to know more about creating documents.

If you need any further assistance, do reach out. We'd be happy to help.

Thanks & Regards,

@Lieke5F9D Is it that way on every workspace you change to? Try to reset your panels to a different Workspace (Window > Workspace). You may need to reset your preferences. Here's how:  How to set preferences in Illustrator (adobe.com). If this doesn't work, let us know what version you are using and what OS.
