Question

How to organize Paths/anchor points better? Messing with the Fill shape I want

Hey all as the title says, how does one manage the Selected paths better?

Im trying to make the pink shape fill but when I select the paths for that shape, its all over the place, like how its connected to the bottom shape,

and even though I cut the path from the main shape it still is considered part of the same RED path as you can see on the right its still one layer RED path and in the main window, the RED paths of both shapes are still connected...

Any idea how to seperate and manage this? Or maybe a pointer on what this kind of problem is called so I can find info on it?

PS) The pink and green arrows and outlines are to showcase the shapes I want to fill seperately

The live paint bucket has gap detection. So if you don't want to dive in and fix hundreds of gaps or if precision doesn't matter, just turn the detection on in Object > Live paint > Gap detection

Hi, jin098

I think it's better to use "Live Paint Bucket".
But before that, fill in the gaps in the path.
Then use the "Live Paint Bucket" to make the color you want.

(Sorry for the Japanese version image)

Thank you,

Quesiton, is there any cons in using the live paint tool at all?
it seems like a really really nice quick fix but In my life experience quick fixes always come with some hidden price

It cmpletely depends on the context. Sometimes live paint causes more work than using other functions.

Also that after expanding the artwork the shapes are neighbouring each other instead of overlapping may sometimes be unwanted.

So you need to investigate the complete workflow and the outsome you need and then decide for the best solution.
