how to printe on 4a page, 8 equal rectangles

Question

I need help printing playing cards.

The cards need to be symmetrical and use the entire A4 page so they can be cut out (without bleed). This way, I'll make four cuts and have ready-made cards without any trimming. I've made a design, and while the width of the cards is fine, the vertical width of the last card is 2mm bigger. I don't know how to handle this.

Do you have any suggestions on what's wrong with this project? Could it be the printer's fault?

Nrb_gwiski, Hi.I downloaded and looked at your pdf with Illustrator. Not sure how you created. This is a just small portion in outline view at only 200%. Why all the paths and clipping paths and groups??? Probably not all even as you stated and wanted. Here I first made a rectangle the size of A4.Next, Object>Path>Split into Grid.I recolored so you can see the individual rectangles, all the same size, and no bleed as you wanted.The overall size is still size of A4.As Jacob said, playing cards normally have rounded corners. Here I gave them a radius of 18pt.Hope this helps.K

As far as I can see, with the structure you have chosen, rather than the printing, the crucial part is to place the cut lines so that the cards are cut to exactly the same size, whereas small differences in the positioning of the individual card artwork inside the cut lines is less critical.

I presume the black cut lines are non printing and only used to guide the cutting.

If this is the case, I would suggest your iteratively adjusting the vertical poisitons of the cut lines until they give identical vertical widths.

After that you can adjust the positioning of the individual card artwork if desired or needed.

Apart from everything else, have you tried handling the cut cards and made sure that the sharp corners will keep their neat shape when shuffled and handled including inevitably hitting the table?

I have yet to see playing (or laying) cards without rounded corners.
