NEW TO AI AND TRYING TO FILL OBJECTS WITH TEXT USING ENVELOPE DISTORT, WHILE ALSO KEEPING THE PATH/BORDER OF THE SHAPES VISIBLE. ANY IDEAS FOR ME?

WHEN I APPLY THE DISTORT TO THE TOP LAYER, THE BORDER/PATH OF MY ORIGINAL SHAPE DISAOPPEARS. I'D LIKE TO KEEP IT VISIBLE.

If all you want is a stroke around the entire envelope object, you may add it using the Appearance palette.

An envelope cannot have a stroke, you may want to create a copy of the object first.
