Question

I cannot make a clipping mask for some reason

Help! I make clipping masks all of the time but for some reason I cant for the life of me get this one to work. I am using my logo which is 3 objects joined together as one. I am placing the logo on top of a picture of fire then selecting them both and selecting make clipping mask. It is either completely disappearing both shapes or refusing the command. I really have no idea how this is different from other times so any input will help.

Just in case you can't see it. I often see that error when there's an errant stray point in the file. Is it possible there's an unclosed path, or wayward point you've missed?

Well, then you would have to convert some of your objects to plain paths in order to create the required compound path.

By the way, to provide sample .ai files you can use one of the various file sharing providers like Google Drive and the like (Adobe's cloud service may also be an option).

Does it work if you first select the white filled paths, go to Object > Compound Path > Make and then select all and create a clipping group?

Heres what it showed me when I tried to make the compound path.

Which version of Illustrator are you using?

Also, can you perhaps share this sample .ai file? Or at least provide a meaningful screenshot that may explain your issue?
