Question

I'd like my line tools to snap to .5 pt increments while using smart guides.

Hi there,

I'm currently following Deke McLelland's videos on Lynda.com. Often when he draws objects, the measurements of his drawing are always on .5 pt increments. i.e. 1, 1.5... 90, 90.5

Meanwhile, the increments of size that my objects are created by are wholly dependant on my zoom level and often result in messy decimals.

Are there any settings I can use to create paths on preset increments?

Thank you,

James

So he draws the objects intuitively? With the tool on the artboard?

He probably has snap to pixels turned on, works with a 1 Pt stroke and has "Use artwork bounds" checked in preferences.

Why do "messy decimals" matter to you?
