I did something, but can't remember how I did it!

Hey all, I'm not the most technically knowledgable so I'm not too sure how to explain what I've done with jargon etc.

 

But basically, I was just messing around with a poster idly and made something which I don't know how to recreate.

 

I have this text (the light purple has really tight kerning, I used the shape builder tool to join them together). But how did I get the text in pink there? If anyone has any idea how I did it, I would very much appreciate it!

If you have already joined the letters, you cannot create the lighter colored letters anymore.

You need to first create the lighter colored letters before joining the other ones.

Use Object > Path > Offset path.

 

Note to everyone else: yes this can be made with live effects and you don't need to convert text to outlines.
