Tyree,

In addition to what Eric said, I believe you will be happier if you start by clicking the top right Reference Point (in the grid right under Transform).

With the centre Reference Point, the X and Y values will have to be half those of W and H to get the top left corner at X = Y = 0; and to be changed to keep it there if you change the W and H.

I had to check it wasn't April 1st, I'm not understanding the problem here at all, 1600x2400 is a 2:3 aspect ratio... it is extremely hot here...

According to your screenshot your file has the correct 2:3 aspect ratio.

Hi,

I hope I understand your question correctly.

Just to clarify:

  • the X and Y values set the location of your design on the pasteboard (that's like your virtual desk, where you can have several artboards). I usually start at X=0 and Y=0
  • The W (width) and H (height) represent the size of your artboard
  • The icon (vertical oval with a line across) locks the width and heigth to a specific proportion. It means that when you type a new width, the height will automatically calculate the proportional heigth. Click on this 'lock' icon to toggle on/off the proportion.
  • Once the document is created in portrait, for example, just swap the W and H values to make the document landscape

Thank you so much for your reply. I did not get a template for this unfortunately.
