Using a cracked or pre‑activated Adobe app is copyright infringement. Adobe has taken legal action against businesses and individuals using pirated software.

If you can't afford it, go to your local library to see if they have a 'digital studio' with Adobe apps installed. Our library has this.

You can buy Adobe Photoshop Elements, an entry-level photo editing software designed for hobbyists and beginners. It is a 3-year term license instead of perpetual ownership or monthly Creative Cloud subscriptions. Depending on where you live, for me is Canada- it would cost $130.99.

Or, you could always use Adobe Express. There are also Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo, which were bought by Canva. It's free. But I have never used those apps; supposedly, they are similar to Adobe apps. I would never use cracked or pre‑activated Adobe because they may contain malicious trojan and viruses at the same time it's illegal as well.

If you’re operating a business, charging fees to customers for design services, you have to budget those fees to cover your costs of computer hardware and software. An Adobe CC subscription is relatively cheap compared to the costs of some industry specific creative software.

Affinity Designer, or what is now the Affinity App (Designer, Photo and Publisher combined together), comes up short in various areas when compared to Adobe Illustrator. But it’s a lot better than nothing. I’ve tinkered with Affinity Designer for the past few years to see what it can or cannot do; I mainly have the app handy just in case I ever get any customer provided art files in .afdesign format.

I try suggesting Affinity Designer to amateur users wanting to create graphics for their small business or create projects for personal or casual use. Unfortunately not many download and try it. More of the D-I-Y crowd is gravitating toward either using the free version of Canva or trying their luck with AI bots (Claude, Chat GPT, etc). The AI-generated stuff is often just garbage that has to be re-created; the artwork is never production-ready. SVG or PDF files exported from Canva aren’t much better. One of the big problems with Canva is the smorgasbord of different kinds of clip art or document templates they’ll let users throw together. Many elements are pixel-based and at poor resolution levels. Even if some elements in a Canva layout are vector-based they’ll often get messed up in various ways when exported in either SVG or PDF.
