IllCC 2017 Zoom to Selection, how to get back zoom to cursor on Cintiq?

Right having just upgraded to the 2017 version of Illustrator they've introduced a spiffy new "feature" that zooms to the selection. Fine but when working on my Cintiq and I'm using the dial to zoom in it defaults to this as opposed to the cursor making using Illustrator nigh on impossible to use effectively. I certainly didn't need this "cool new feature", is there any way of disabling/reverting to the old way or am I stuck with this pain in the rectum of a "feature"? (is even possible to go back to the frankly far more usable 2015.xx version of Illustrator? 2017 seems to lag fairly badly even on my system in certain circumstances).

No setting in preferences at this time to stop this, but these 2 ideas can help regain some sanity.

  1. hold down Command Space then marquee drag your zoom tool
  2. Option drag your scroll wheel if you have one

Thanks for the reply Mike, those work for the moment, the trouble arises when I use my Cintiq (it's the 24" model so I'm stood at it). I have a tendency to use both hands with one on the dial and buttons, I've even tried reconfiguring the zoom on the dial with the keyboard equivalents to get what I want with no success (if anything it is actually worse).

For the time being I'm back on 2015.3 which works for me, it's certainly less annoying and a bit faster.

Yes I understand and myself and use 2015.3 instead of 2017 just because this feature is annoying and makes me less productive at work.
