Illustrator 2019 menus greyed out

Running Illustrator opens a huge window that doesn't automatically reconfigure to different screen sizes. Opening a file created and saved just a few days ago, all menus are greyed out and elements are uneditable (including the attempted use of keyboard shortcuts). I had a few message windows pop-up; one stating that creative cloud is needed to "fix the issue", but never seeing anything else stating what "the issue" is. Clicked to repair and it seemed to initialize properly. Once the CC desktop app was repaired and opened, I noticed there were updates available, so I then updated my apps. Another message window had opened when this first started happening saying "There is not enough memory available to process the appearance of an object." Thinking it was referencing my machine's memory, I uninstalled several programs I no longer use. Then I restarted my machine and opened illustrator again, only to have the same issue.
