Question

Illustrator 2020 (24.0.1) is way too slow and unstable on Windows system

Dear all,

I've juste installed the all new release of Illustrator 24.0.1 (64bits) and i'm not happy at all.

This new release is WAY TOO SLOW! I don't know if it's due to memory or something else but the fact is that each move, each saving becomes a nightmare and it's really annoying.

I have 16Gb of memory with intel i7 3.4ghz and a nvidia GeForce 780GTX with 3 x 28' screens and this is really slow.

Could you help? or advise?

Tks a lot in advance and krgds.

Hi Olivier,

We're so sorry to hear that you are having trouble. We're currently investigating this issue. In addition the details asked by Monika, please share:

  • Operating System.
  • Is it happening with just 1 file or all the files?
  • Where the files are saved (Network Drive/ System HDD/ Shared Folder on System /External HDD)?
  • Is the issue related to a specific workflow/ feature/ tool?
  • When did this start happening? Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates or web extensions installed recently.
  • What is file format (Ai/ EPS/ SVG)?

You can ignore if you have already shared any of these information.

Regards,

Srishti

Dear Srishti,

Tks a lot for your input and following my issue. I'll try to answer all your questions.

- OS: Windows 10 64bits
- It's happening on working on all files
- Files saved on both external drive usb3.0 and internal ssd drive (no change beetween saving internal or external)
- No change on my antivirus or on my system. It's happeninig since I installed the new release Illustrator 20 (I was using 19 since and everything works fine)
- File format: AI
- I have 3 x 28' HDR screens
- GeForce GTX780 updated yesterday
- No conflict

I don't know if i can publish here (puclic) the data copied from the preference / performance?

Johnny from support asked me to test again with only 1 screen, i still need to do this test...

People have solved this by erasing their harddisk and installing everything from scratch.

But you might want to have Customer Care take a look at it. You can contact them at http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html

They can login to your system.

Dear Monika,
Tks a lot for your reply.
What do you exactly mean by "erasing their harddisk and installing everything from scratch"??

Do you mean only Illustrator installation, or 100% of the computer (format windows and everything then reinstall all)??

Formatting the disk.

But really: I would first try all other options. Contact support.
