Illustrator 2020 (24.3) crashing when black /white is selected in a "Color" when editing a gradient

When editing a gradient, select black or white with the button in a Color palette. Illustrator falls.

Illustrator 24.3, MacOS Catalina 10.15.6

Few users have confirmed that if they close Layers panel, it works as expected. You may try this as a workaround.
