Hello,

I am trying to export images as .tiff files at 300 DPI in windows with 16GB RAM but it is constantly crashing.

Is it possible to get some suggestions to solve this problem?

Correct answer Doug A Roberts

yes,  i can do successfully in a new document.

The problem happens only with a particular document.

I was able to access the file today for whatever reason.

I exported it successfully at 300 PPI from both AI 24.1 and 23.

However, there is a linked file in the document that was obviously unaccessible, so that may be the problematic element.

Like was mentioned above, why use all these images in Illustrator (for what lookes like vector files) to export to an image?

There is a file missing that could cause the problem.

You can open the file in Photoshop in less than a second and it includes the missing file (is part of the pdf in the Illustrator file) and save it as tif.

I do not get it right. it is unclear as of now.

Each image in the AI file is separate tiff files and they are placed together to make a figure panel for a publication.

are you suggesting to open the AI file in photoshop and save as .tiff file?

thanks..

Why do you need a tiff file for publication? PDF is generally used for that.

If you really need a tiff file, does it matter if Photoshop creates it or Illustrator?

What is the physical size (inches/cm) of these images as you create them? What physical size do you need to produce?

I can't access the file ('Internal Error 500').

You should get a file of your specifications if you follow the following steps:

1. Create an A4 document (210 x 297 mm)

2. File > Export > Export As. Choose TIFF and make sure 'Use Artboards' is checked.

3. Select 300 PPI in the subsequent options.

Can you carry these out successfully in a new document?

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you are facing with Illustrator. I would request if you could share a few more details like:

  • OS and version of Illustrator
  • Is the issue related to a specific document? If yes, could you please share the document with us? You can upload it to the Creative Cloud (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the download link.
  • Where the files are being exported (Network Drive/ System HDD/ Shared Folder on System /External HDD)?
  • Does it work if you export it with less DPI?

Regards,

Srishti

Hi,

Thanks for the support.

Yes, it is related to a specific document. I uploaded the file (namely fig.3) in the creative cloud.

Version of illustrator:24.1.2. and windows 10.

The file is exported as a .tiff at 300 DPI to a network place.

I can export the file in less DPI but it is not good for a publciation quality.

Please let me know if you need anymore information.

best regards

Karthick

Please export the file to the Desktop and see if it works. If not, please go to https://assets.adobe.com/files, click the 3 dots next to your file and click Get link. Share the link here or via DM (in case it is confidential).
