Illustrator 2021 crashing when trying to export as .svg

Is your OS & hardware meeting the system requirements?

Or is this possibly an issue with just one file, and something within the artwork such as a nested symbol.

Senseless to troubleshoot further when we you did not provide your OS & AI version or if this happens to all files or just this one.

Without any system info and details about your document nobody can tell you much. The most likely cause is that you simply created a construct that either AI tries to rasterize for SVG because there is no way to represent it otherwise or it generally is not within the SVG spec. Anyway, you have to provide more info and screenshots.
