Illustrator 2023 animated zoom not working

In preferences, confirmed that a compatible GPU exists. Also the animated zoom checkbox is checked. I have updated the graphics driver. But still animated zoon does not work.

OS is Windows 10 64-bit and Illustrator version is 27.0. Animated zoom worked in previous versions of Illustrator. I have restarted Windows and Illustrator a number of times.

 

Can anyone suggest what is wrong?

    As I already said, it did not behave in that way for files generated within Illustrator. I also said that I had updated the GPU drivers. However, I have just reopened the pdf in Illustrator 2023 (for about the 5th or 6th time) and now animated zoom is working. Case closed until the next time!!

    I'm having this experience also, today with Illustrator 29.7.1     I did pick and choose some preferences (too many 'helper' stuff I don't want appearing).  The animated Zoom was working before that.  Now, if I use keyboard shortcut for such a zoom, I get a static zoom, have to repeat click the keys.  Keyboard shortcut I'm using is Command Space for + and Command Space Option for -

    Any suggestions?  Admittedly, I don't know what, in preferences, "Enable Content Aware Defaults" means. I have it unchecked..

    I've now discovered that this only applies to a document that I opened from a pdf file and then saved as a .ai file. Maybe there is an issue with pdfs.

    Sorry to hear about this experience. Would you mind checking if Illustrator also behaves this way with other files? If yes, kindly try updating the GPU drivers by following the steps shared in this help article (https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/update-graphics-driver.html) and checking if it helps.

     

    Also, try resetting Illustrator's preferences by following the steps shared in this article (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/troubleshoot-preference-issues.html) and sharing your observations.
    Disclaimer: Please note that resetting preferences will remove all custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with the defaults. You may take a backup of these settings from the location mentioned in the article.

      I am also having this issue, the view with GPU dropdown is grayed out until I restart illustrator and then animated zoom works again.
