Question

Illustrator 2025 v29.1 missing Art-boards

Hi Community,

I created 10 artboards and added 4 more before I shut down my mac - I saved my file before shutting down. In the morning when I logged back in - it's missing the 4 pages. Theres no recovery file - nothing; like it was never done? I am not sure what has happended but scares me as most of my work is on fine deadlines. Is it due to the number of artboards and it reached its capacity - but surely it can't just vanish -  I am using a Macbook M1 Pro, running Sonoma 14.6.1

Hello @Vinnie237517873rg3,

Would you mind confirming the folder location where your files were saved (removable/network drive or a cloud-synced folder like Google Drive/Dropbox) and if Illustrator behaves this way with all files so I can better assist you?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I normally save my work to a portable SSD drive.

Hello @Vinnie237517873rg3,

Thanks for confirming. If the file is not up-to-date, chances are the latest changes were not saved. I understand this is not ideal. To prevent this in the future, I would recommend saving your files locally and then copying them to the external drive.

Feel free to reach out if you have more questions or need assistance. We'd be happy to help.
