Illustrator 22.0.1 Creates Multiple Linked File Sources - How do you stop this?
So it seems with the new Illustrator update that when you drop, for example, a .psd file into Illustrator and then use that same .psd image multiple times within the file, it will create multiple sources in the links instead of using that one .psd to link back to each image. This has been incredibly annoying, when for example you could have 10 different .psd files in Illustrator, and if you have multiple uses of that in your .ai workspace it will create apples.psd, apples.psd2, apples.psd3, etc when packaging. This makes the file ENORMOUS. The only way to make the file smaller if you want to send it somewhere is to then go into the package and relink the files from there. Is there a way to stop this from happening before packaging? I have also run into issues packaging in itself because the file becomes to large and crashes illustrator while trying to package the tens of .psd files when in reality it should only be relinking to about 8 for example. What is the benefit of this change? To me this also makes editing inconvenient because if you wanted to change something in a photoshop file and make it a universal change, it would only effect that one singular file within your .ai file because it creates individual .psd links.
Any thoughts - ways to stop this? Any help would be much appreciated.
