Illustrator 24.0.2 crashing on Windows 10

Why does Illustrator keep crashing/freezing up. I've had crashes before, but after we got Adobe Illustrator 2020 24.0.2, I keep getting crashes, even GUI crashes... (just a black box when I try to access menues, but shortcuts doesn't work either, I will just have to wait to see if Illustrator doesn't tilt or eventually crashes.

I've read several posts here, and you keep suggesting chaning settings, diconnecting network printers etc etc. Why not just fix the damn software. This has been an issuer for several years, many of us are working on corporate site, behind firewalls, and it does seem that the less secure you are, the less issues you have with Illustrator.

Hi there,

We're so sorry to hear about the trouble. I would request if you can share a few more details like:

  1. The exact version of the Operating System.
  2. Does this happen on a specific file?
  3. When it crashes, do you get an option to submit a crash report? If yes, please submit the crash report.
  4. Is it like the shortcuts work intermittently?
  5. When it crashes while accessing menus, does it get stuck or it lags or completely quits?

All this information will help us understand the issue better and work accordingly.

Regards

Rishabh

I have not got a crash that gives me a crash report in ages (note: does not give me a crash report, it crashes frequently).

I am running Windows 10. Sometimes it crashes/freezes when I try to open a file or when I use a short cut or when I try to access a tool etc. Several diffent actions I do when it freezes up or crashes. I just got this computer before the holidays (end of November).

Besides bad drivers or network speed/connectivity, I cannot see any reason for the crashes besides buggy code. I suspect some sort of query is being done by the software and it crashes when trying to access blocked(firewall)/inaccessible functions.

So your firewall blocks everything? That might just be too much.

Does this happen regularly when saving/opening? In that case: do you have a printer attached? Illustrator needs to be able to access one. If you don't have one, please check if the PDF printer is set up properly.
