Illustrator 24.0.2 freezing intermittently on macOS Catalina. If I press esc, it unfreezes.

Illustrator 24.0.2 freezing intermittently. If I press esc, it unfreezes. I am running Illustrator 24.0.2, my Mac OS is Catalina 10.15.2. I have the new Extensis Suitcase program open and in use. I have closed my browsers, turned off automatic recovery, started, restarted, deleted preferences. I am not having any issues with any of my other programs. This is unacceptable. I use this to make a living! Any thoughts?
