Illustrator 25.3.1 update - GPU performance greyed out after using outline mode.

Hey All,

Just upgraded from version 25.2.3 to 25.3.

Upone further inspection, once I enter outline mode (Ctrl-Y), "View using GPU" is greyed out and the performance slows to a crawl.  I updated my video card drivers as well and that does not seem to help

It's as if it's stuck using the CPU view - not the GPU.

The only fix is the roll back to the 25.2.3 update.

Anyone other than me having this problem?

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind sharing the version of the OS & Illustrator? Do you see this behavior while working on a specific file or all? Are these files saved on a network drive or locally? This information would help us assist you accordingly.

Additionally, I'd suggest you to try the steps given on this community post(https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator/resolve-slow-performance-and-unexpected-behaviors-in-illustrator/td-p/11561981) & let us know if that help. Looking forward to your response.

Hello community,

The title says it all... This bugged also happened a couple of versions before... I am running on Windows and I have all of my GPU stuff updated and are running fine on the other software.

This is a very little annoying bug I can tell you...

Thanks

Hello Srishti,

Thanks for replying to me. I have re-installed version 25.3 and the problem is already back.

Here is what happens: On any document.

When I switch to Outline view my GPU preview option gets greyed out. When back from the Outline view I am left with only CPU preview, which is way laggier. It is not linked to any specific document, turning on and off the GPU performances from the settings panel does not help to work around the bug. When it happens, it happens only in the open document, closing it and reopening it and things are back to normal.

Here are my specs:
Thinkpad Extreme Gen3 - Windows 64bit Pro - latest version.

GPU 1:

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Ti , version: 27.21.14.5266

GPU 2:

Intel(R) UHD Graphics, version: 27.20.100.9466

Where can I report this ? I have saved my NFO file.

Thanks!

strange that it was necessary? still possibly a bug?
